Pony Thought of the Day: Merriwether Williams

I’ve been watching a LOT of Adventure Time lately for an upcoming panel, and Merriwether Williams’ hand is all over it. All I can say is that those bronies who claim she’s a bad writer are objectively wrong; admittedly this proves nothing regarding whether she’s a good fit for Friendship Is Magic.

Also, I’ve been reading Odd Girl Out. It is a painful book, not because it is bad but because it is very, very familiar. Anyway, I can definitely see the relevance to “The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well.” It hasn’t actually changed my opinion of that episode, but I’m starting to see why at least some of its haters feel the way they do. More on that when I finish reading, most likely.

  1. Eh, her being a bad writer was disproven by her other episodes… particularly Wonderbolt Academy, which now means she's gone from writing the worst Rainbow Dash episode to writing the best one.

Thank you for reminding me of Odd Girl Out, though. I knew MMDW reminded me of some book like that, but I couldn't remember the title.

In the immortal words of Tom Servo: “Terrific! That's all I ask.”
